Revenue to cost, cost to supporter; surely a relationship exists?

Match day revenue only accounts for a small fraction of our revenue these days, so I don't think any signing would have any real impact on fans, regardless of the fee.

@tolmie's hairdoo mentioned yesterday to watch this space regarding mbappe.......so I think it will be Sanchez and Mbappe and no neymar imo

The Neymar stuff on here is ridiculous as its been almost spelt out that it's Mbappe if anyone.

We won't even get him imo as its Sanchez who is the target.

I think it was that other space.

But your point still stands.

But if Real Madrid get involved, imo we will just be wasting our time. If we've got him sewn up on personal terms then great, but if he isn't & those fucks get on it, they will screw up our transfer, even if they don't end up buying him.

People keep skipping over this point.

If Mbappe struggles, no reason Neymar won't, he has no experience of playing anything like Premier League football.

The most likely outcome, is neither will struggle.

Of course neymar could struggle like di maria did, but those instances are rare where a proven world class player struggles after moving to the prem. Its really not that hard to believe that an unproven 19 year old kid on the back of 1 breakthrough season is more likely to struggle than a player who's been performing at the highest level in europe and the World Cup consistently. The most likely outcome is certainly one of Mbappe struggling to come to terms with the increased intensity in competition and going through the 'second season' syndrome that all young players go through where they are paid more attention to by opponents. Neymar has already gone through and past that stage in his career.

Someone made the comparison as to how Rashford might score goals in France.

Turn that round & look at how many times a simple punt upfield here, or a defender falling over, gives Rashford a chance to use his pace, which he does, then 8 times out of ten, hits the keeper, falls on his arse or smacks it into row Z. Then look at Mbappe's finishing by comparison & also his positioning & his foot movement & he's faster than Rashford.

In the final 3rd, he is a nightmare to play against, at any level. He is already doing what Neymar can do, in that area.

The difference is that Neymar can drop deep & contribute more, at this stage, but he has never done that outside his comfort zones, where he gets a free kick if someone farts next to him.

It's splitting hairs to suggest he would automatically be better, simply because he's older. Mbappe, if it was ever possible to sign him, would not be a gamble.

On reflection I would bet strongly on Mbappe staying for one more year and Monaco agreeing a deal in principle for next summer. He's guaranteed to start, cement his place in the France team for the World Cup, and will be playing as a champion whilst still growing and learning. He will also increase in value and it looks like Monaco will raise enough cash from other sales.

Tolmie has pretty explicitly spelt out there's something going on with Neymar, mentioned his agent Wagner Moura and started saying "Ney" instead of No.

So it's a case of people getting very excited over tolmie saying Neymar, not people just guessing he means Neymar from an ambiguous YouTube video.

Now you could still say the excitement that's caused is ridiculous, but that's another matter...
