Rags v City U21

Looks good — very quick — but it's always the same question. He won't get anything like that time and space in the PL, and the question is whether he can make the step up.
Also, I have to say in all honesty that I thought some of the rags' defending was truly pathetic.

Agree with this, but he does deserve a chance in a few games even if only from the bench.

Up against proper footballers he may struggle and may not be good enough at keeping possession for Pep's liking.

Because let's face it, not many in that rags line up are going to have a decent career in the game. Doing well against them (and lots of similar teams) doesn't prove much.

The question is always going to be whether the youth can make the step up.

But that won't be known until they are tested against them.

Delap for example, kind of like Lukas Nmecha, looked very good at youth level because he could bully them but it doensn't translate over against the adults he's currently playing, although his team (Stoke) are shit. It will probably take him some time to adapt when he doesn't have that advantage.

Lukas will be 24 soon, and is only now kind of doing well with Wolfsburg, with his brother Felix doing quite well also, but it took him a couple of years.

Rabbi Matondo similarly had elite speed and did very well for us but hasn't gone anywhere.

The thing you need to look for at youth level for me is "decision making".

Light weight players can make it if they can execute this quickly, but it can still be a slight worry.

Hence why when Foden, Sancho and Diaz played for us many people noticed they have "decision making" to play at the top, and that only physicality would limit them, with Diaz being the main worry, but even now he is overcoming that with Milan, simply with time and adding muscle mass.

I want to see if Borges and Mebude can execute that decision making against adults. I think they can.

Some good points here, whilst Borges is no doubt a top talent to be Pl and UCL you have to go head to head with the likes of Kyle Walker and physicality gets cancelled out. You tend to find that from U11 to U18 fans and even some scouts immediately note the physically dominant as great prospects and overlook the late developers such as the Coke Palmers of the world. Look out for the baby faced kid amongst the physically dominant man child players and if they are holding there own they could well be the horse to back. I think City know this to be fair, but fans see the here and now. All the above said borges looks like he could well have a decent career

I don't remember physicality being a worry with Brahim Diaz TBH, he was a strong lad. The worry with him was not getting his head up and releasing the ball early enough not to get guided down dead ends. I haven't watched him for a long while now but I don't think that much has changed.

It would seem rags have put all their efforts into the WSL trying to catch up with City in that area. Clearly taken their eye off the ball at youth level.
City are just so well run at every level.

Oscar Bobb I think without checking shirt numbers, a Norwegian playmaker who is beginning to look the real deal. The step up to the mens game will be interesting to watch.
Thanks!

Looks like he has a touch of class about him in the highlights.
