11 | Jeremy Doku - 2023/24

Our biggest threat on Saturday. Yes he gave the ball away a lot but at least he didn’t hide. And the fact he didn’t hide meant that he was still involved all the way through.

Gusto was fantastic too, though. A good battle between them where both got the better of one another all game.

In the Chelsea clip at 60 mins you can see he still manages to get a good ball in but look at the 6 Chelsea players all in a line between him and Haaland right at the back.

Some people need to remember he’s 21. He’s a few months older than Bobb.

IMO no one at the club would have expected him to be better than this in his first season.

Thank you for this video.

This clip will probably make many people have a rethink.
That’s why it’s not good to join a bandwagon.

Look at the Sterling goal. Doku did not bother to move an inch when Palmer ran forward past him.

Palmer and Sterling created far more and worked much harder than Doku. And I am sure Pep would not tolerate this kind of behavior when Sterling was 21. Pep would not give Palmer another minute if he did that on the pitch.

Walker was at fault for that goal and nothing to do with Doku.
Moreover, Doku needs to be in a specific position in case of transition.
Using just a moment to judge a player is not good. I can accept if opposition fans are doing this
But it's a shame some of our fans delight in putting down our own player.

The biggest issue we have with Doku when he plays is over-reliance. Everything, and i mean EVERYTHING was going down that side. We need more balance, he needs a foil next to him and someone who can control when he gets the ball and give him more options when he does have it. That's one of the reasons Alvarez doesn't work there, IMHO.
