Is it not slightly patronising to suggest that paedophiles are incapable of controlling their actions just because they're unable to get their end away though? I mean I've gone for long periods without sex before, and I don't resort to going around raping women. I mean what's wrong with your right hand (or left hand in a paedophiles case) and your imagination?

I'm very dubious that this product will reduce or increase the likelihood of a paedophile acting on their urges with a child. And given that the evidence is pretty sketchy either way, I see no reason why it should be banned. And that's the way it should work imo. Stuff shouldn't be banned on some vague unsubstantiated claim that it will increase the risk of a crime occurring. Some people think this sort of product should be more like medicine, where you have to prove it safe before you can sell it, but I suspect the real reason why they want it banned is because they find it distasteful. Personally, I prefer a society where finding something disgusting is not grounds for banning it.

I understand your point, but why can't society still teach values and that certain things are just 'wrong'? I'm happy to accept that I may not be correct, but although I'm happy with lgbt, I'm just not ready to add a 'p' to the acronym just yet. Recognition and medicalization is a half way house to acceptance and personally I'm not feelling the love for nonces just yet. Who knows, maybe in years to come I'll be seen as an ignorant bigot? I'm good with that tbh and we'll probably be having a discussion about beastiallity by then anyway.
