Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

We should be giving the whole team/squad penalty practice after training sessions when their legs are tired.

We are in several cups that could need strength in depth putting the penalty's away, to win silverware.

Give the most consistent scorer the role. Sergio has a very poor record, I would be very surprised if he was our most consistent.

No pracise will ever be able to come close to replicating a real life situation. My guess would be Aguero and Kdb bang them in without a seconds thought on the training ground. I bet even Clichy whacks them in for fun.
The one thing I would say is learning how to keep the ball low. From 12 yards, hit correctly a goalkeeper struggles to get down whereas anything 4/5 foot in the air is a gift from the gods.
As soon as the penalty was given I said Kev should take it because he's the best striker of the ball on the pitch. He's since come out and said he changed his mind in the run up. That's why practising them is a pointles exercise.

According to "Pep Confidential" - chronicling Pep's time at Bayern - Pep lets the players decide who to take the penalties. Moreover, penalties didn't seem to be practiced.

Unless Aguero continues to miss with some regularity, I expect that Kun will be taking our penalties for as long as he's at the club with Pep in charge.

We should adopt the American football system of bringing in a specialist "kicker" for these situations. If/when he says sorry, Yaya would be ideal.
Last season in the CoC final, I thought "if we score the next penalty, we've won". Then Yaya walked forward, and my next thought was "we've won". It was never in doubt. We won.

Other that that, does it matter who takes the penalty? If he scores, great. If not, it's another thread like this!

Completely disagree with you. What's that old saying "the more I practise the luckier I get".

Proper preparation involves practise. Our Freekick, corners and penalty kicks are all below standard. I realise there is only so much time but to say "practising them is a pointless exercise" is daft IMO.

He is missing penalties regularly though. 2 Misses in 3 days and 7 misses in 2 years is too much IMO.
The penalties he scores are frequently giving the keeper too much of a chance to make a save. He is not clinical like say Yaya, (or even Milner!).

Agree.

But I don't think it's yet to the point where Pep steps in and says Aguero is not taking our pens.
