Fallon resigns

The replacement seems a little odd, surely the Chief Whip should have known about all these allegations and misdemeanors yet hasn't done anything about them.

Not really. Goes to PM with the allegations and thinks Fallon will have to go. PM reluctantly agrees and asks who is best placed to replace him. Chief Whip coughs politely and suggests himself. Job done :)

Media is all over May being too weak to choose her own ministers.

This about sums it up....

It's a strange one isn't it?

As you say, as Chief Whip, he should know about all these allegations and there is some suspicion that the Whips were using this information to "encourage" MPs to be loyal.

Also he has, in effect, replaced the guy who he recommended should go which is nice work if you can get it, especially for a fella who has never held a junior cabinet post previously.

According to the journalist's tweets his appointment has gone down badly amongst Tory MPs and Ministers.

It just goes to show how bad things are for Mayhem that MP's are electing themselves to cabinet positions she doesn't have the authority or balls to do it herself. Throwing Bomber Fallon under the bus one last time is hardly going to rock the boat too much but not selecting a replacement to shore up the party speaks volumes.

Boris when asked today has his past behaviour always been of the standard expected as a politician snapped back with of course. Can you imagine how his private life is being scrutinised for the things that so far have never made it to press? I think the Christmas recess cannot come soon enough for the Tories....

There has to be more to the Fallon thing. The fact that he resigned so quickly indicates that much more was well known.
