Wigan FA Cup post-match thread

If Delph was clever he didn't risk such a tackle seconds before half time. What for? Not a good a decision and in fact it could have been dangerous.
You call it red just for being stupid...

If Pep was clever (tonight) he would have overcome his pride, take the draw at 0-0 by passing the game home and replay on a pitch for professional football, without that atmosphere and also a home advantage regarding refereeing.
AND Delph could have sit out vs Wigan and be back vs Chelsea. Well.

City will win more games without English refs around. Wigan like many others are holding/pushing/pulling using their hands and all of that would be yellow in Europe. I have seen 2 penaties alone. English refs are changing the game and giving a favour towards the technical limited team.
I think that's also a reason why Gündogan was invisible tonight. He has been superb in Basel, under different rules.

Stones seems to be as slow as Yaya now, it's shocking.

Bravo simply can't save that ball.
But I guess Ederson would have been out further 10-20 yards and the angle for Grigg could have been more difficult.
Btw Grigg was very very lucky to hit it like that while going down.

Bottom line that was not good enough tonight. Not been able to force Wigan to mistakes and consequently served the goal for them.

We need a very different attitude, confidence and sharpness on Sunday.
We don't need to talk about winning the CL for a while.
And we should be happy even if we only! win the league.
You cannot calculate football.

Maybe its because City fans on the pitch get put before the courts and maybe its because one of them tonight has had a go at Kun?

That idiot doesn't do that and i dont see many having an issue but if fans go on the pitch and goad away fans there will always be trouble and that goes for any ground.

All this small club talk and you banging on about the rags etc is just strange im afraid?
Strange indeed

I will try again, not to be called a fucking rag would help, but the pitch was diabolical, heavy and bumpy and stopped us playing quick incisive passes. Sane and Silva look way short of fitness. Missed raheem terribly. Just hope the media fallout doesn't lead to consequences wider than this game.

Rag.

:)

On

Once Sane went off we lost the ability to go bast the full back - we worked Walker in a few times but his final ball was shocking. Bernardo had loads of opportunity but wouldn’t take his man on. That sort of defence needed to be turned around. We played in front of them and made it easier for them.

I agree to a point but I thought their full back contained him well, he wasn't getting past him often if at all. Spot on with Bernado just kept on doubling back. Sane is still coming back from injury the same as Silva, if we push them too hard too soon that's when they pick up injuries. A frustrating night it was destined not to be.

I bet you are mate. It is so frustrating at the minute with some of the decisions.

Taylor tonight has took it too a whole new level so credit to him for that.

Bossed the game, even more so with 10 men and missed a few chances but in reality, we just didn't work their keeper enough and as is the luck, they get one chance, the striker actually slips hitting it but it still goes in.

Over the loss already but that ref?
