David Conn on Abu Dhabi and Human Rights

I am not sure if the UAE have this law, but in Kuwait expats have to 'retire' and leave the country at 60, if their employers are good enough they'll give them a nice paycheck for services rendered etc. This law though isn't enforced all the time (as with most laws in the country) and you can...

David Conn on Abu Dhabi and Human Rights

The Gulf states get a lot criticism (sometimes justified) for not granting expats citizenship after x number of years, or not giving those born in Gulf state nations citizenship. But our countries have relatively new fledgling economies. The sizes of our countries are very small compared to the...

David Conn on Abu Dhabi and Human Rights

Titles in our part of the world are thrown about lightly, power is probably concentrated to the President of the UAE and other Sheikhs of the various Emirates. 90% of the population are expats as the UAE has a relatively small population. There aren't any countries that I know off that give...

    George Galloway

I agree with some of what he says, although his visit to Saddam was terrible. I agree with him in that the 2003 war was unnecessary but at the end of the day Saddam's an asshole. He is a good listen though, so not love but like.

    From Alaska to China...

Go for it, I'd do it in a heartbeat just for the experience. A fair warning is that Chinese food (real Chinese food, not the Panda Express stuff) needs a bit getting used to, my uncle has a lot of business in China and he's had an extensive experience with Chinese cuisine. Just a warning.

Why do jews have 2 sinks in their kitchen?

I find your comparison of Judaism and Islam quite interesting, having lived in America for 4 years now i met and befriended a lot of Jews from different backgrounds. I was even invited over for a Sabbath dinner with a observant Jewish Persian family. My grandparents who are somewhat religious...
