Who really cares that much how much we are paying for these players and whether or not we are having our pants pulled down when it comes to transfer negotiations? It's not like the money is coming directly from our pockets?
Although the sheikh is bankrolling the club currently there is a long term plan for the project to be an investment.

It is not the best investment strategy to say "who really cares..." for a start with FFP and a limited income it means less funds are available to improve the squad.

We can worry all we like about the investment strategy, but as fans we have very, very limited, if no input into this. And from the figures we have seen from this summer, especially with the reported wages of those coming in compared to those that have less we are moving towards FFP at a gallop

Plus the more that PSG, Monaco and Madrid etc keep spending money then the chances of FFP being adhered to is reducing by the day. Add into that the vastly increased TV money this year and I think w are sitting pretty well at the moment.

And you can't compare signing Silva and Toure for £24 million each with the current signings as those were made 3 years ago, They would probably be the equivalent of £35 million signings now

Looks like the president is trying to save face.

Going off what the spanish duo have done so far with regards new contracts and renewals I highly doubt that we would of handed out over the top wages.

His wage would be more than what he is getting at Seville coming to us so id say the statement would be pretty accurate.

Negredo looks like he has a high work rate
and not scared to put his body on the line
I think he will be a success another good day for us

Man City complete £24.5m signing of Negredo from Sevilla

Alvaro Negredo will complete his £24.5m move to Manchester City on Wednesday afternoon, Sevilla club president Jose Maria Del Nido has said.
It looked as though the striker's move to England was about to collapse earlier in the week as City had not reached Sevilla's valuation, but the clubs have now come to an agreement.
City will pay an initial £21.5m for the 27-year-old, who scored 31 times in 42 club appearances last season, but this could rise by £3m following add-ons.

'We are about to complete the sale of Negredo to Manchester City. If all goes well, he will say goodbye this afternoon at the Sanchez Pizjuan,' Del Nido said.
'City are signing a great player. It is the contract of his life.'
He is expected to join the City squad on their pre-season tour of South Africa at the earliest possible opportunity.

Negredo is the second player City have signed from Sevilla this summer following the £15m purchase of winger Jesus Navas.
Negredo will replace Juventus-bound Carlos Tevez in City's strikeforce and could be soon joined by Stevan Jovetic, with negotiations over a £28m switch from Fiorentina ongoing.
