Indeed.. didn't want to quote all and sundry etc.. Various teams have had their periods of dominance (some more sustained than others) during every period of English footy history.You have left out Sunderland from the list of trophy winning teams in the early days of football. They have won something like 10 trophies in their entire history and 7/8 were pre World War 1/Victorian Era.
However, I do find it interesting (sad git that I am) that the period between 1958-72 saw such a spread of success across clubs at the top of the English pile.. 11 different clubs took the title in that time (Wolves, Burnley, Spurs, Ipswich, Everton, the Scouse Filth, the Red Filth, us, Leeds, Arsenal and Derby) with no one team dominating. In addition there was the added variable that some were regarded by the press as your 'homespun' clubs (such as Burnley/Ipswich) while others were from 'big cities', often with big financial backers. This period may not have been blessed with 'football a la Pep' but it made for exciting times as a fan!
