Since the introduction of 3 points for a win in the 1981-1982 Season only 9 teams have ever managed to get 70 points or more after 30 games. Unfortunately for us United have had their 2nd best start to a season since 3 points for a win was introduced.

•2004-2005 Chelsea 77 Points 48 Goal Difference
•2006-2007 United 75 Points 50 Goal Difference
•2005-2006 Chelsea 75 Points 39 Goal Difference
•2003-2004 Arsenal 74 Points 38 Goal Difference
•1987-1988 Liverpool 73 Points 53 Goal Difference
•2011-2012 United 73 Points 47 Goal Difference
•2011-2012 City 70 Points 50 Goal Difference
•2000-2001 United 70 Points 49 Goal Difference
•2007-2008 United 70 Points 46 Goal Difference

A good achievement by both teams. What would be interesting would be to compare the points of the rest of the top 6 and see if the overall quality of the league has gone down and its just City and Utd beating everyone else

I'm not taking anything away from either side but its a good 10yrs since L'pool, Chelsea and Arsenal have been that bad

It shows how much the gap between the top teams and the rest has increased when 8 out of the 9 teams to reach 70+ points after 30 games have done so since the 2000-2001 season.

Fair play to the rags. Doing that on nothing but a youth developed set of lads on a shoe string budget.

To be fair it's not for cash naught spent. Just bad investments.

Its noticeable that apart from Liverpool 87/88 all the top stats come from the last decade, the top teams nowadays are obviously a cut above the rest of the league and are more consistent than the top teams of old.
