So this is why he got on the pitch today....maybe?
Manchester City looking to swoop for Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj
Adnan Januzaj has impressed United's neighbours, and with a year left on his contract he could make the switch from red to blue
Manchester City are looking to snatch super kid Adnan Januzaj – described as the Belgian David Beckham – from the grasp of Manchester United, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People.
City are working to land the brilliant 18-year-old midfielder, whose contract at Old Trafford is up at the end of the season.
Januzaj could stun United boss David Moyes by quitting the champions for their major rivals – leaving them to haggle over a low compensation fee.
Moyes faces a major contract row with Januzaj’s advisers and City hope to pick up the pieces. The teenager has already played in some big games since Moyes arrived – he came on as a 67th-minute sub in yesterday’s win over Crystal Palace – and the new boss does not want to lose him.
Januzaj has been targeted by some of the biggest clubs at home and abroad but City’s bid is the cause for most United concern.
Moyes does not want a repeat of the problems under Sir Alex Ferguson when he lost the likes of Paul Pogba because United would not meet his demands.
The stand-off could stop United sending Januzaj out on loan and they may have to offer him big cash quickly as they try to sort out his future.

Also, Juve supposedly ready to pounce too.

Has all the hallmarks of classic mischief-making from a gossipy Sunday paper because derby week is coming up, a bit like the Ravel Morrison story that went nowhere.

It seems that every season the papers take one of their youngsters and linked him with a move to us.

Since when the fuck did coming off the bench in the second half whilst 2-0 up against 10 men equal a "big match" ?

EVERY FUKIN MATCH THEY PLAY IS BIG. and every player they got came from there youth ranks... god where have u been ???

Not sure how good this guy is or whether he is better than any of the youngsters we have or could sign. I think we should be signing good young English players if we can, (such as Barkley). More important for us is strengthening the centre-backs and defensive midfield. We have to have a productive academy of our own, and also produce some decent young English players as well as players from other countries. I think the FA will change the rules in the near future to make sure all clubs include a higher percentage of English players in the squad, and it will be "for the good of the England team". Obviously this will happen when Utd sign the likes of Barclay, and Baines so they will meet the quota, I just hope we aren't caught out with the change when it comes.

It's possible that this higher percentage of English players would have to include a minimum number of them coming up through the ranks rather than being bought from someone else. That would then focus clubs on their own youth coaching set-ups, and it would also stop them poaching from elsewhere which in itself would help clubs to comply with FFP as a side issue.

-- Sun Sep 15, 2013 6:10 pm --

Yeah English players are the way forward. Just look at the success of the national team. Also real value for money in that approach.

We did pretty well with our own English team in 67/68 season. Only Bobby Kennedy, with a small number of appearances, wasn't included in this grouping.
