I agree on a national scale - it would be a big target for other parties to aim at, and encourage Johnson to cause trouble for Sunak as well.

Sweep it under the rug and they’ll lose another 10 points in the polls.
Turn on Johnson and there’ll be a Conservative civil war.

I'd rather see him lose his seat in an election. I do hope the HoP do not take away what would potentially be the funniest moment in General Election history. His failure would be talked about for many years.
