Athletics Thread

The UK Athletics Championships/Olympic Trials are at the Manchester Regional Arena 29th/30th June.

The 2nd Diamond league meeting of the year tomorrow, in Shanghai, Duplantis broke his own WR in the first last week. It's on the BBC red button and will be on the iPlayer. The first meeting is still available on the iPlayer as well.

On the red button at 12.00.

Great call mate, cheers for flagging it up. Yeah it’s odd the bbc have coverage but hide it away on there.

I’d had an offer to officiate at those arena champs but have said no. Last time I did it there I was stuck on the call room duty and never got chance to see a single event!

Darryl Neita the highlight for me; a class apart in the 200m and as they said on coms looked like she was easing off in the last 10m or so. Superb bend but then maintained it on the home straight without any stress.

Interesting to see that false start business in the 100m Hurdles. I didn’t realise that the rules had changed and it seems now if an athlete wants to, they can still run, even if they get a red card.
FWIW, the reaction times were so marginal and the high level of noise in the stadium meant that for me, they should have called it as a faulty start instead.

Neita was superb mate, she improved all last season to arguably overtake Dina as Britain's number 1, but I wasn't expecting her to blow a field with that much quality away like she did, on her first race of the season.

Very encouraging for the rest of the Summer.
