.....whilst we were at The Etihad.

My son chose Maine Road F.C. 2 AFC Blackpool 2 whilst I was lapping up our 5-1 victory against Norwich. A poor crowd for Road, but that is often the case when City are home. The video he's done tends to only capture the Road highlights as they fought back from 0-2 down at half-time.

Good traditional colours for a "City" v Blackpool game.

Presumably the opposition have to agree, but is there a reason why when City are at home Maine Road dont either kick off at noon or switch to the Sunday?

The league are sympathic to us trying alternative kick-off times and we have experimented with Friday nights. The crowds were well up (relatively speaking) when we did do this, but as you imply the opposition came to really dislike it, because trying to travel anywhere on a Friday evening can be a nightmare.

Sundays are out because City use our Brantingham Road pitch for Academy games. The Monday night games we have had so far have seen an increase in attendance.

Thanks for your interest.

p.s. Put a better link on -I stupidly did it via Facebook originally which not everyone would have access to - you learn!

Manchester FA did indeed (strangely) move to Littleton Road, Salford and have subsequently moved onto Harpurhey. Yes, we were slightly nervous about our future at Brantingham Road as we were the MFA's sub-tenants, but after a stuttering beginning we entered into direct negotiations with the Landlords (St Margaret's Church) and all is well now.

We don't have a direct relationship with City as they too are now direct tenants of St Margarets, but there has had to be significant co-operation over dates for each team to play on the pitch. We helped by playing our first 8 games away from home whilst City did some upgrading work on the pitch.

In the financial sense we are benefiting in that many of the costs are now being shared and the Landlords are being fair with us now that they have two steady streams of income coming from the ground.

It is early days in that the arrangement only started this season, but all the signs are promising and we would hope that in the natural course of events it might gradually solidify our relationship with City.

Well that's good that Maine Road get a better quality pitch out of it!

As a matter of interest, where is the church as off the top of my head I can't recall one in the immediate vacinity (certainly not ala Goodison Park lol) though there is a Mosque on Withinton Road! If it isn't in the area, how did the church come to own the land?

St Margaret's is just further down Withington Road between Burford Road and College Road and has a primary school nearby. I think the land was bequeathed to the Church with a covenant to ensure it remains as a playing field.

As you may have noted from the 'sticky' on the main Forum, Maine Road FC are being featured on the Imagine FM Bluemoon (104.9) programme at 9:00pm on Sunday.

Unfortunately, Road's game at Silsden (Keighley) tomorrow has been postponed
