Ever read a review and thought "I must read that book" ??

I did with "Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. What a disappointment that was. Reasonably written but really disliked it.

i agree very hard going also thought remains of the day was pure shite

Not read it, but will approach with caution if I am ever interested. ;-)

I thought Catcher in the Rye was vastly overrated too.

yeah, think i'd heard that much about it,it was always gonna be a disappointment, fear and loathing in las vegas is one that did live up to expectations though

Proust's A la Recherche du Temps Perdu is bobbins as is Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude.

Lord of the Rings. I made it to page two. That was enough.
top class book read it when i was 12,got me into the whole reading lark

The Hobbit got me into reading. I tried to read the Lord of the Rings several times, only finished it once though. I found it a bit over-descriptive, there was large chunks of reading time where nothing actually happened.
