A return to form for fans of surrealist spoof comedy.

Anyone who saw the amazing 'Old woman singing a song that wasn't a proper song about Hattersley' sketch that was just on can't have failed to have been impressed.

Kudos to whoever came up with that one.

Top comedy.

I'd like to see a dance version remix.

-- Mon Mar 26, 2012 6:56 pm --

Great stuff.

No laughing matter, I was moved to tears

Come on, you can't fail to be shocked by lyrics like:

"And when the milkman came on a Saturday, he'd say I'm going to Hyde, can I fetch your prescription.

There's many who got a lift on the back of a milkfloat to Hyde.

Honest to God"

Especially when it is garbled, has no lyrical flow and is such a bizarre subject matter.

Just because it features someone who is old and has what could pass as a haunting backing track doesn't make it any less laughable.

In fact, it makes it come across as even more of a spoof. It's like someone has said, "let's see what banal events/lyrics we can cram into this whilst still having people buy into it being some sort of deep social comment about a bygone world. And whilst you are at it, make sure nothing rhymes and the lyrics don't fit in with any sort of musical/lyrical flow. Stick some slow music behind it, some old footage and lingering camera shots and people will swallow anything."

Just because it is by someone old, it doesn't make it any less bizarre that something as mad has made it onto our televisions.

I'm going to start to feel guilty in a minute when someone says it is their Grandma but, come on..........

Haha, that is fucking mental. A bit like when the Monty Python mob would dress up as old ladies and start chatting nonsense before wading into each other in a big ruck.
Sister's still got a better flow than Dizzee Rascal, mind you.

i must of watched that now about 6 times, its cracking me up. Really mental

Any excuse to post this ...

Have some respect!

She had a grocer, a mobile chippy and a baker all selling stuff from the back of their vans'

(In fairness, that line is plagiarised from an eighteenth century philosophical work by one of the romantic poets)
