Champions League Matches | Semi-Finals | 30 April, 1/7/8 May '24

But that doesn't mean they are a better team. If there was an european superleague, we would finish above them every year for the last 7 years without a doubt.

Madrid has this quality that if they are better than the other team, they always win. If the match is close, they win 95% of the time. If they are inferior, they still win 60% of the time. If they are extremely inferior (City 2 years ago, even PSG 2 years ago) they still have a good shot of going through. But they are extremely lucky this is a knock-out competition.
Yep, if the last 8 was a league and stopped the knock out element, they would never win it.

Pure speculation

The fact is they win this competition more than anyone and have knocked us out more than we have them.

You can speculate all you want about a format that doesn't exist. They're better than anybody at succeeding in this format.

Others would say that about the premier league, it's usually us winning it
You put a weak team out in the prem and you get beat. You can’t say the same about la liga’s weaker teams.
The standard of the premier league’s bottom half teams is on another level to any other league.

one more time.

Don’t see why it would show premier league in a negative light to be honest it’s a cup competition City out played Madrid in both legs and would have made the final but for a knackered KDB missing an open goal and being unlucky in a penalty lottery.
Surely if it was a City v Arsenal Champs League Final, the UK Media would trumpet it as proof that the Premier League, is the best in the world ?
Also, the Premier League would get a 5th Champs League place, which has now gone to the Bundesliga...

In a cup your emotional state, adrenaline and belief plays a huge role, and that's the only thing where they are far above anyone else. In a league that doesn't play at all.

In the las 5 years, we have played 8 matches against them. They have only won 1 of them!! And the win was with 2 goals in the last 5 minutes. We have 4 victories, 3 draws (one of them we should have won) and 1 loss (which we should have at least draw).

They were dominated by Leipzig, Leipzig!! You really think they would win in a european league, when they cannot even win their own league most of the time?

We still have some work to do to close that gap. The facts don't lie, they've dumped us out twice in three years and have won it on a regular basis. Most dominant team in Europe
They seem to get results that no other team can manage, even when they are not playing well and often don't deserve it.
In the last 2 rounds won just one game out of the 4 in our and Munich matches and that due to 2 very late goals.
Won one game out of 6 in our matches with them over the last 3 seasons and that was also 2 very late goals that brought a game into extra time. Somehow managed to go through to the next round in 2 of those 3 tournaments even though they only won that one game.
Obviously the away rule is no longer in place but had it been, we would have knocked them out this season.
They can hold out in games and look second best for 80 minutes yet still manage to score. Have some great players and will only be stronger next season.

Marciniak did apologize to Tuchel who said in the presser it's not the time for apologies in a CL semi but he just accepts it as a sportsman.
