Could City be looking at an alternative in Germany to De Bruyne or Sterling?

However, the German is set to turn down a move to the Etihad to continue his development at the BayArena.

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Bellarabi, although it appears he will reject any approach in order to stay at the BayArena.

Thomas Gassmann of the Hamburger Morgenpost reports that the club have made a €35M offer for the German international, with wages of around €7 million per year.

However the player’s agent, Konstantin Liolios, has said that he would likely reject any offer and remain at the club, as he wanted to “continue his sporting development with Roger Schmidt”.

Bellarabi’s career has been on an upward trajectory since Schmidt took over at Leverkusen. The club would have been happy to offload him after his loan spell at Eintracht Braunschweig ended.

However Schmidt put his faith in him and was immediately awarded, with a goal in the first ten seconds of the opening match at Borussia Dortmund, and a further 11 goals during the rest of the season.

His loyalty should be applauded. However if he does remain at the club, there is reportedly a €25M release clause in his contract which activates next year. Any suitors may then be prepared to wait a year, but by then who knows who else could be interested.

In my opinion there is no possibiliy for Bellaraby. Those are "tricks" to push Wolfsburg to say Yes for KDB...

For a reported salary of 96,000 EUR per week, I smell an agent behind this rumour.

Reus is still the alpha German winger.

Funny and interesting comments from the germans fans on here... the noticed that the player "is a very good DRIBBLER and give Leverkusen something not many clubs have.... to make their football UNPREDICTABLE... and seen from this point of view, its fully worth the price on him its been negociated" ... sounds interesting though :

"He must not go !!!!!!!!!! His dribbling skills are easy to look and gorgeous. The acceleration, the speed ... simply great. The only one that can keep up to mM is Sadio Mane when passing the enemy believed the other does not feel like ^^"

"Exceptional and incomparable footballer who would not be too expensive with 35 million in an international comparison in any case. In the current scale it had more of a bargain for this price."

Buy, buy, buy, just keep buying new just for the sake of buying. Buy, buy, don't stop buying whatever the price and quality is. ANd dont forget to release the old ones for free or close to it, even if they're good enough, no matter what. More spanish-speaking guys and somebody with 3rd-party owners in so we could make some money ourselves.

Seems like a proper good old strategy from our top-management.

Scum have even worse s..t in the case of transfer policy and transfers, but we shouldn't look up to them
