Manchester City have told the UEFA matchday delegate present at their match with Porto of their intention to make a formal complaint about alleged racist abuse directed at their players during Thursday's match at the Estadio do Dragao.

Chanting on more than one occasion was heard coming from sections of the Porto crowd, seemingly directed at Mario Balotelli.
Balotelli complained about being subjected to abuse first, with midfielder Yaya Toure backing up his claim, leading to City informing the delegate of their plans to complain.

Although manager Roberto Mancini did not hear the abuse, Balotelli has told a club official he heard abusive chanting during the game, which City won 2-1.

Reports circulated during the match that Balotelli and Toure were subjected to monkey noises.

But when asked about it, Mancini said he did not hear it after the game - but Yaya Toure told Sky Sports News that he 'heard something'.

"That's why we all like the Premier League, because it never happens there," he said.

"Maybe in foreign countries they don't expect black players.

"I think in future it will be okay, they will change their minds and the game will become more open

"Football is football and the fans come to enjoy the game, and we don't want things like this to happen.

"Mario is now able to control things like this and that is very important for the club."

Good.

Twatini will do nothing, though. His eyes are on our money not the racist goons who bring the game into disrepute.

Re: City to lodge UEFA complaint

This kind of thing f'in annoys me. How many black players did Porto have on the field? Are those fans so stupid that they can't realise that their own players can hear it too? This has got nothing to do with certain countries not being used to black people. They just wanted to wind Balo up so that he would react and get sent off. Imagine yourself as a black player at a club in Bosnia, for example. The fans love you cos you score goals and play well. As soon as you play a team with a black player in it, your 'adoring' fans make monkey noises. How would YOU feel? Wankers!

As said, nada will happen... nothing, well maybe a very small unnoticable fine.

I could clearly hear part of the match where fans were singing a prolonged chant, sounded great, then as soon as Mario touched onto the ball they stopped this chant and proceeded to make Monkey Noises.

When Mario lost the ball they went back into this song.

Also, as Mario left the field the whistleing was for all to hear, this was not apparent when Sergio came on the pitch, nor was it for when any other of our players left the pitch.

They got what they deserved anyway as we Won, so fuck 'em

Re: City to lodge UEFA complaint

UEFA today announced a sixteen match retrospective european ban for Mario Balotelli after the striker allegedly played with skin that was not "white" in Manchester City's Europa League clash with Porto. Michel Platini is quoted as saying "We can't have players doing this sort of thing on the pitch, it only brings disrepute to our beautiful game. You don't see French players doing this sort of thing. It is despicable."
