My main problem with yesterday is that we threw it away from a winning position.
Had we failed to score it would have been frustrating but Burnley got players back quickly so it would be understood. But that wasn't the case; we went two up and then just stopped. Nasri forced a decent save after the break but the only other shot on target wouldn't have beaten a Conference keeper.
Burnley played well; they ran around a lot and used their strength, but would you really have a single Burnley player in our squad?
The Chels will drop points in the second half of the season, but I can't see them dropping them against a bottom-three team, nor can I see them dropping points from two-nil up.
Five of our remaining away fixtures are against teams in the top half and include Chelsea where we've not won often (that 4-2 the other year was excellent) and Klanfield where we've not won for over twelve years. And the swamp of course but we've won the last three there.
A win at Stamford Bridge would set alarm bells ringing in Maureen's tiny brain, but I think his team has the muscle to cause us problems.
I still think we have the most skilful players in the division but it's not always enough.
We were lucky with injuries when we won the league in 2012, but struggled last season yet still won it. I doubt Chelsea could play as well without Costa as we have without Sergio but that's irrelevant if Costa stays fit. Mancini's biggest fuck up wasn't upsetting the players it was sacking the medical team.
And injuries to strikers was always a potential problem this season as Sergio and Jovetic were out for much of last season. Negredo might have wanted out but failing to sign even low-level cover was a huge mistake.
We may have won most of the games without Sergio but the remaining players have all had to work extremely hard to do it and they are beginning to look knackered.
Sunderland are up next and while we've dropped points against them at home a couple of times I think our record over ten or twelve years in something like fifteen wins and four defeats in twenty-five games. We murdered them at their place a few weeks ago and should be able to repeat the win (if not the margin) on Thursday.
