Listened to radio 2 at lunchtime as the discussion was Covid and testing.

Whilst the country demanded huge numbers of tests for obvious reasons, what they didnt know was the tests have had huge error rates because science has barely been able to keep up and still cant.

Other information from today's news conference.
21% of UK Covid-19 deaths are in care settings.
(Note: Though there are a further 12% of excess deaths in care homes - some will be non diagnosed Covid-19 cases though others will be be dementia and cardio-vascular related due to stress.)

This was the 29th.

Wonder if she’s been asked to have abit of time off as she was in the firing line for a lot of left leaning posters.

Could be other personal reasons I should add.

Abit more than a few days mind.

Nobody knows what the error rate is and it rather depends on what you mean by error rate.

The resident Doctor Jarvis was saying that the first swab test had a false negative rate of upto 30% and was literally only usable for someone newly infected. She then said one of the antigen tests was also not that reliable. Up shot was people doctors felt had covid where told the test was negative as that was what it showed.

The thing is without a gold standard for testing 30% is a bit of a guess and it probably depends a bit on who is doing the swabbing, but it probably remains positive for a while if you still have symptoms.
Do you mean antibody test? The swab test is a test for viral rna, and the blood test is a test for antibodies.
