GM county scoreboard

Bolton 11 (up for 4th straight day from 9 yesterday). 264 in month. 51 past week. 20 over 2 days (was 13). Pop score 771.

Bury 7 (happily down from 15). 210 in month. 67 past week. 22 over 2 days (was 23). Pop score 804.

Manchester 20 (down from 29 - lowest in over 3 weeks). 896 in month. 245 past week,49 over 2 days (was 66). Pop score 733.

Oldham 11 (down from 18 - lowest daily number since lockdown). 734 in month. 144 past week. 29 over 2 days (was 40). Pop score 1168.

Rochdale 5 (same - 3 straight single figures first time in weeks). 330 in month. 86 past week. 10 over 2 days (was 13). Pop score 971.

Salford 6 (down from 7 and 3 straight single figures here too). 307 in month. 72 past week. 13 over 2 days (was 14). Pop score 667.

Stockport 5 (down from 6 and eight straight single numbers here too). 251 in month. 40 past week (lowest weekly total in GM - even surprisingly outdoing Wigan this time round). 11 over 2 days (was 13). Pop score 666. Good day for the town having claimed two records now since it also knocked Salford off its Pop Score perch held since the start of the pandemic - though only by 0.5!

Tameside 13 (up from 12 - not so good news here as that is four straight in double figures). 292 in month. 66 past week. 25 over 2 days (was 22). Pop score 819 (biggest rise of the day in GM).

Trafford 3 (down from 9 and a run of nine straight single figure numbers here is good news as it was quite high a month ago). 236 in month. 44 past week, 12 over 2 days (was 17). Pop score 678. Running neck and neck with Stockport so may yet become top on this rating in a week or two.

Wigan 8 (down from 9 but its levels are higher than they were before the decision to end restrictions). 120 in month (easily lowest in GM). 41 past week. Last 2 days cost it the best weekly GM score it has held for months. 17 over 2 days (was 11). Pop score 697. The 700 club looms any day now. And it is falling behind in any hope of becoming top on the Pop Score as well as its other best ratings in GM.

Other watch locations

Blackburn - just 4 - its lowest numbers in ages.

Bradford 33 (up from 30 but staying in the area most days).

Leicester 15 (down from 23 to its best score in some time too).

Pendle (at 8) had its highest number for a few days but well down on the 40s of last week.

Hospital update: Also good news.

N Ireland 9 (-1) WITH 0 on ventilators

Wales 55 (-4)(though 2 days old data) WITH 6 on ventilators (down 4).

Scotland 246 (- 8 over weekend) WITH 2 on ventilators (though I thought I heard Nicola Sturgeon say 1 today),

England 474 (it went up to 546 Saturday from 480 Friday but many were discharged in last 24 hours). WITH 62 on ventilatotrs (down 4 over weekend).

So I make that 784 in hospital (below 800 for first time and below 500 in England). And 70 (or 69 maybe) on ventilators in the UK.

This time last week those numbers were 902 in hospital and 73 on ventilatiors.

So another week with numbers going in the right direction despite 1000 cases a day.

Finally regional hospital data.

Many parts of the UK saw an influx of patients over the weekend. With some areas showing a rise of 50 or more in one day. The NW had one of the lowest - rising only by about 6/7 over the weekend.

But almost all these patients seem only to have stayed a day and then went home. Possibly these were people at illegal raves and parties spending a few hours at hospital being tested then sent home.

Generally the numbers are back to a downward trend as the new week begins. But most areas still have a small number more in than they did Friday as you can see.

At the low numbers in hospital now we are not likely to see large falls day to day and daily fluctuations are more likely as a few patients will change things from up to down or vice versa.

East Was 37 today 33 WITH on Vent was 6 now 5

South East Was 51 today 41 WITH on Vent was 9 now 9

South West Was 17 today 17 WITH on Vent was 1 now 2.

London Was 75 today 76 WITH on Vent was 16 now 15

Midlands Was 121 today 129 WITH on Vent was 6 now 8.

NE & Yorks Was 80 today 82 WITH on Vent was 7 now 5.

And North West was 99 today 96 WITH on Vent was 19 now 18.

Given the North West is at the centre of the pandemic it is remarkable that we are one of only two regions that have seen both numbers in hospital and numbers on ventilators fall slightly over the weekend.

The Midlands as you can see went the opposite direction.

The Scottish Krankie women Is now going out of her way to differentiate herself from England with regards to schools and masks!

Dangerous and deluded and totally unnecessary in my opinion.

Can’t wait for the kids to go back next week. They are desperately in need of the structure of schooling and a degree of normality. It would appear we are doing just enough to keep a lid on the virus at the present time.

Any update on vaccine progress?
