Don't know if many on here remember Easterhouse, but they are often overlooked in terms of Manchester music but such a brilliant band. Contenders is still one of my favourite albums of all time.

I used to sometimes drink with Gary Rostock from the band in Sinclairs Shambles Square back in the 80's.
Craig Gannon of The Smiths and Aztec Camera was often there too.

Gary is an extremely witty extrovert guy (think he lives in Czech now) while Craig is a lot quieter.

Criminally ignored thread - as well as the band.

Ivor Perry and Craig Gannon were in a post Easterhouse band, The Cradle.
Perry knew Morrissey from Stretford (went to same school) and when Johnny Marr left The Smiths, Perry was invited to replace him.
They demo'ed and instrumental song and a rockier version of what became 'Bengali In Platforms'', which appeared on Morrissey's first solo album. After 2 days Morrissey told Mike Joyce to pass on the news that ''it wasn't to be'' and The Smiths were no more....
