Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Thanks JRB.

Yeah, I've seen a few notices attached to lampposts about the CFA expansion.

Presume the collar site is where the casino was once planned.

We don't want the ground to be swamped like wembley is I suppose

Correct. That’s where the Super Casino was supposed to be located.

I certainly hope not. Wembley has been completely swamped, as you say, by high rise residential developments. I saw a drone shot of that last night on the TV. The amount of highrise residential buildings around Wembley is insane. That can’t happen at the Etihad as the land around the Etihad, bar the Collar site, is already developed and won’t be changed. The South stand, the new North stand, the Coop Live Arena, and the athletics arena. Only the Collar site, and maybe one or both of the car parks at the back of the Etihad Campus could be used for residential developments. It’s highly unlikely the car parks at the back of the Etihad Campus would be used for anything other than car parking as they are needed for the Etihad stadium and the Coop Live Arena. The final piece of the Etihad Campus will be the Collar site and small parcels of adjacent land after the North stand is constructed, unless City have other proposals for other plots of vacant land on the Etihad Campus we don’t know about?

Thanks JRB. I thought you would have an idea. I knew some of it. I suppose at the back of my mind is, what would MCC do if City walked away and built a new stadium, but that sounds ridiculous as I type it. It seems that every added construction confirms ADUG's commitment to the city. It's just strange that we own the crown but not the jewels!

You can never say never, but I can’t see City walking away from the Etihad stadium, the Etihad Campus and the CFA. Sheikh Mansour and City have invested too much money and time in to it to walk away from it. Guessing, it has to be getting towards £1bill? Buying the club, the land, the CFA, investment in the Etihad stadium in general, the South stand, the Coop Live Arena, the new North stand, whatever is planned for the Collar site, which will be additional money. City are also committed to the 250 year lease, which I can’t see them walking away from. City have a fantastic relationship with MCC. ADUG want to be involved in the Holt Town development which is next to the Etihad Campus, and links the Etihad Campus to New Islington, Ancoats and the city centre. It all ties into a giant masterplan for East Manchester. Something Scruffy Jim and TBC are planning to replicate around Old Trafford.

Screen grabbed from the drone video Lexstar posted.

Visualuze walking up a refurbished Joe Mercer Way. The Coop Live Arena to the left of you, the green living wall(currently the white concrete wall), the digital halo working.(minus the current hoardings) Along with the new North stand, fanzone, hotel, offices, retail, museum (the 2 claws) at the top of Joe Mercer Way.
