Reap What You Sow or Redtops Malign Influence ?

Lets not forget that the ESL was plotted, planned and promoted by the redtops clubs. The same redtops who broke away to form the PL in 1992 and were responsible for the acceleration of the commercialisation of football. Arsenal, Liverpool and the rags have always been driven by self-interest. Ironically, Everton wanted to be part of that gang. Now they have been punished under their regime.

The Chairman of the PL is a self-confessed united supporter. Their CEO, Masters, a marketing man, was only eventually appointed after 3 better qualified candidates withdrew, each having been offered the job. It was reported that Masters was vetted by representatives of Liverpool and Man U before confirmation. Masters is their puppet. The redtops think it is their PL which is why they keep on changing the `rules` to try and protect their interests.

This discussion though is about Everton. Deflection tactics that some of their fans have tried by bring City into this are irrelevant. EFC eventually, after counter arguments had been lost and many mitigating factors had been allowed, admitted that they had exceeded the permitted thresholds. In the end it became a clear case for the PL to prove which they did with significant resources and expert legal advocates behind them.

Years of mismanagement on and of the pitch at Everton is where the real ire of supporters should be directed.

It can be argued that Everton were doing what many have done or want to do - spending with the intention of improving their PL position and investing in a new stadium fit for the 21st century to bolster income. Unfortunately for EFC, those trying to run the show, some of whom were very good in previous roles, were not competent to perform and deliver at the higher levels.

All this has actually galvanised the club and supporters, at least in the short term. With Burnley, Sheff U and Luton in this season`s PL, Everton will be fine. And, because they have not enjoyed success for many years, Everton are not seen as a threat so will garner some support for the position they are now in.

The debate now is the nature of the punishment.

The blame lies almost entirely on the people who were in charge, sadly they used emotion and passion rather than common sense and financial nous in decision making. The stadium became the holy grail at the detriment of the day to day running of the club.
As you say the debate is the nature of the punishment
If you go into administration you get a 9 points deduction so how can 10 be fair.
The 2 main issues were the loan for the stadium and the player value - siggurdson.
For the player and his value the club kept him on contract knowing it was almost impossible to have played him
The stadium was a development in progress and the sanctions against one of our owners and effects of covid could never have been envisaged.
The PL arguably took a case to a so called independent panel and advised this is what we want to do to the club.
Also they said they did not see a fine as an option but effectively the places we lost in the table was around 2 million for each place if we remained there.
Personally I don't see other club's as being relevant to our case but they have set a precedent which may make them look foolish in retrospect. They wanted to set an example and Everton were an arguably easy target to do so.

Just seen this shite about Chelsea fans singing the usual stuff:

Fans Supporting Foodbanks said: "A club and its fan base standing together as one. It's not big or smart to chant about poverty and food insecurity."
At least it's drawing attention to it. Papers foodwashing for the Government. Maybe write a few article on why people from many cities, including our own, have to use foodbanks and how the number of them has grown massively in the last ten years.

Anyway, back to football ...... that Gary Lineker ... should keep his mouth shut ...... sorry - it's not me!
