Trained firemen (and probably heroes), sacked for emailing a bit of porn.
Not illegal porn, just porn. Why are people being treated like little kids in the workplace these days?
What a waste.

jeez. people know the rules. pornography in the workplace is gross misconduct. they only have themselves to blame.

Thats bang out of order! These guys save lives. Yeah give them a telling off sure.

In days before the internet this guy has been sack effectivly for sharing a wank mag!! What's the problem ffs?!

the bottom line is, they are the rules. it is harsh but they are aware of them.

Seems extremely OTT. Especially as we need specially-trained people for roles like this.

Surely two-week suspension and a demotion would have sufficed. I mean how bad could it have been? It's not like they will have been watching porn while they should have been putting out fires.

People get sent all sorts of emails at work, forwarding on a burger-shot isn't what I'd call gross misconduct.
It's just blokes being blokes. I've had it up to my ears with Health & Safety and PC. Not being able to have a laugh at work is fast becoming the norm.

We have a bit of a running joke in our house, as we live very close to our local Fire Station. When we hear the tannoy announcements from their station commander, we do laugh that they are all busy playing snooker and watching porn in between answering calls....

Erm...perhaps we were right after all ;)

(this is a joke btw...the fire service do an excellent job)

It's the rules. Simple as. They knew how they should conduct themselves at work and they clearly didn't.
Others were demoted and warned etc so it clearly was a little more serious than just a quick pic of a naked girl. It went too far. And they have been dealt with.
