I was reading the BBC today and I saw this expression used,

"It has knocked me for six."

Anyone know what it means?

As for a little background story, lady and her son got shot in Turkey and one of her neighbors used that phrase.

Im no expert, bu for mebit would be a reference to cricket scoring.
Knocking one for six would mean hitting it pretty hard.

Read "its hit me quite hard" instead of "knocked me for six"

Now you've found your Knob, how about finding the right board to post this in...

Thank you LongLang,

at least someone explained it.

As for the rest of you, thanks for pointing out the obvious. There was a reason I posted it here, mainly because I wanted an answer. Figured I'd get one faster here then elsewhere.

You posting this in the "wrong" forum really has knocked me for six LIFMK. Please try harder next time.

Why not try Google next time or do you see bluemoon as your own personal search engine. Better still try the commonsense approach to problem solving the next time something's got you stumped.
