Give Eastlands its Kippax

I have read many posts on here in the past and spoke to many people about the current arrangement at Eastlands with the away fans. At Maine Road we had our wonderfull Kippax. A stand that was our own, a stand where many of us watched our first City game in and a stand where that "famous" old Maine Road atmosphere was produced. At Eastlands our magnificent ground we have a few blocks and thats it. Like i said above i have seen many posts on here and spoke to many people outside this cyber world who all agree that we should have the whole of the south stand full of blues singing passionatley. The forthcoming cup game v Forest presents another problem where they will be given the whole of the south stand and the heart of the Eastlands atmosphere will be split up to accomodate these away fans when after 33 years of sod all, it should be us that is in theSouth Stand doing our best to cheer on the lads to Wembley. So after a few people PM'd me i just thought what the hell, we'll set up an online petition as an avenue where we can all show the club how much we want it. I don't like to call it a petition because we are not demanding anything but it is the only way where we can all voice our support in one place.

Cast your minds back to May 2008 when the Uefa Cup final was held at Eastlands. The atmosphere was electric and the ground looked superb - full of colour and noise and generated by the Rangers fans who were all together in the North Stand. Theres is no reason why we cannot replicate that in our OWN ground.

As the old saying goes "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" so if you do agree with all of the above and the message in the link i will give you below then voice your support and sign the petition. Theres no registering or giving your e-mail (that is optional allthough it does add weight to the campaign) all you need to give is your name, if you don't want to display your full name then just put the first letter of your last name so instead of John Smith put John S.

If you don't agree with any of the above or the message in the link i will give you below then that's fine. If we get a few thousand blues supporting this then great, we can show the club that we would like this to happen. If we get 200 supporting this then it is obvious that the few people on here and the folks i have spoken to are in the minority but like i said "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" so lets give it a go.

So if you are in favour and support the idea of giving Eastlands it's Kippax, then sign the "petition" below.

Pass it on through e-mail and all join up on the facebook group <a class="postlink" href="http://www.facebook.com/editphoto.php?o#/group.php?gid=39326909005" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.facebook.com/editphoto.php?o ... 9326909005</a>

IP, just wondering which stand you want to become our 'new' Kippax? The away fans won't be moved, as it was designed to be where it is for ease of getting their coaches in and out easily. Police would kick up a shit-storm if the club proposed it. North Stand the logical alternative, but then they would have move the Family area en masse, and where to? South Stand, near the away support isn't best place for kids. Corporate boxes etc practically rule out both other stands?
I know what you mean about the way our 'hardcore' singers are divided by the away fans now, but a lot of them gravitated to being each side of them on purpose for the banter etc.
Agree totally with you in theory, just not sure how realistic it would be to acheive?

Well ideally mate it will be the South Stand so we would be making the south stand section we have now bigger in numbers. Getting it in the North Stand would be a Huge no-no as it would be too far away from the fans and like you said the family area ect it just would be a huge operation.

I know the away area we have now is designed so they can get in and out quickly but all the older grounds achieve this some other way, i know after visiting most grounds that the coaches at most of them aren't parked nicely outside the entrance like they are at Eastlands. I am sure with the owners money and the "supposed" changes they want to make to the ground they could come up with some other arrangements to make it happen. Afterall it's not like we are asking them to be moved to third tier and cause alot of hassell, just a few blocks to the side.

I agree with what you mean with the banter which is why i reckon it would be best to keep us next to the away fans and the idea we have come up with is the best option.

I haven't a clue really how we could do it and if it is realistic doing it but if you do agree that we need a Kippax in Eastlands sign the "petition". You never know if we get enough people supporting it the club may think of the best way to do it ;-)

Best place to sign it there mate.

Signed. Good idea, mate.

What the club need to realise, particularly the new owners,is that a better atmosphere in the stadium will attract more young supporters. I remember being a kid and that's what I loved.

This is Sooooooooo LONG OVERDUE this is a thread that should run and run we should have
enough money to at least give our stadium some atmosphere when we first moved in and were taking votes typical of city we listen to rag votes and got Bell end [stand] lol
COMS instead of carrying our old names with us ie MAIN ROAD no wonder lpool and everton dont want to move they have seen what has happend to us the only time we get any decent

volume is against the rags

DONE

Good to hear

Can anyone send a link through facebook to all the non forum using blues out there? maybe start a group or something?

I`m in mate. The Kippax was a magical place & as vocal as any end in the country in the 70`s & 80`s. The nearer you were to the away fans the better the atmosphere.
As it is at Eastlands the 2 main vocal areas are split and are regulary singing different songs at the same time so you lose the effect. JD 212
