Guardiola fined £20,000 for wearing yellow ribbon (p140)

With regards to City fans wearing ribbons; I'm not sure us co-opting this particular cause as a means of a fuck you to the FA or for backing Pep on the basis he's City manager would be all that appreciated to be honest. This is about people being locked up in prison for trying to exercise what they feel is their democratic right. It goes beyond what we think of the FA or how much we love Pep. If you're inspired to wear a ribbon for those reasons rather than out of solidarity with the Catalans then I think you're undermining something miles more important than football.

If you genuinely care about the cause then fine, but if you're only doing it because you like Pep/hate the FA then I'm not sure it's that cool an idea and could possibly be a source of embarrassment to him.

For the record, I think the FA have handled this very badly (yet again) and I fully back Pep in the choices he's made.

The FA had spoken to Guardiola about the issue in mid-December and two formal warnings have been given which were ignored.

The charge was then triggered when he again wore it pitchside - he is free to wear it elsewhere - during City's shock FA Cup loss against Wigan on Monday.

It's heading that way but the old boys club at the FA will all have passed on / retired by then. (you wouldn't believe how many times I rewrote that and eventually came up with "old boys club" and "passed on/retired")
