One of the heroes of my childhood, Gemini & Apollo astronaut Frank Borman, is 90 today. He was the commander of the Apollo 8 mission, which was the first manned space flight to leave earth's orbit and fly to the moon. They didn't land but just orbited the moon a few times before flying back. In doing that, we got to see those wonderful & iconic pictures of the Earth from the moon on Xmas morning 1968.

If you weren't old enough to witness it, you can't imagine how breathtaking and awe inspiring these pictures were.
