I'm surprised there's not a thread about this already. Apparently Jose Holebas was signed by Watford from Roma on a 3-year deal on Thursday. Today he has come out in the press in his first interview as a Watford player, and these were the words he gave the press:

“I can’t understand what’s happened, I came back from my holiday in Dubai, and everyone started telling me my transfer had been officially announced.

“I’m in Germany right now, how could I sign a contract?"

Sounds like his agent hadn't even told him that he might be moving. I know that clubs in some countries like jumping to announce a transfer early, but this is taking the biscuit, especially for an English club.

Jose Holebas denies signing for Watford, 24 hours after club announce his arrival

Greece international Jose Holebas has denied moving from Roma to Watford, just one day after the club's official website announced the move.

The 31-year-old said that he had no idea that any move had been agreed and that he has not yet signed a deal with the newly promoted side.

On Thursday Watford posted on their website saying they were "delighted" to have completed the signing of the left-back, but it seems the player had no idea.

Holebas told gazzeta.gr: “They arranged my transfer without asking me.

“I haven’t signed anything yet, I have to see the contract first. I don’t know why this has happened, I know that both Roma and Watford announced my transfer, but they’d have to talk to my representatives first.

“I never said I wanted to leave Roma. I’ll sign after first agreeing to the terms of the contract.

“I can’t understand what’s happened, I came back from my holiday in Dubai, and everyone started telling me my transfer had been officially announced.

“I’m in Germany right now, how could I sign a contract?"

Watford are currently negotiating with Tottenham to sign Etienne Capoue. They have been more successful in securing the signatures of their own players, having provided new deals for Matej Vydra, club captain Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart.

Wait till he gets home and realizes everything and his family have been moved to Watford..
