To the person who said we need someone more versatile and dynamic:

erm no we don't ... our fullbacks push up all the time, so actually need a midfielder who does nothing but defend and provide cover for the fullbacks.

That is a pointless player in my eyes. We need another player of Fernandinho's ability - someone who is quick, can read the game, can tackle but can also pass well and if we are controlling the game can therefore open up the pitch with his ability. We had a player you describe in Nigel De Jong and so many times he would pass sideways or backwards and offer very little - yes he could defend and cover but to be one of the best teams in Europe we need the player in that role to provide more - Fernandinho, Busquets, Lahm are all able to do that and we need another player of that calibre.

Passing sideways is underrated. You have to pass it sideways in order to stretch the game. We are not a direct team that wants to score as quick as possible, we don't take route number 1, we try to walk the ball in to the net. I don't see any issues with Javi Garcia's ball distribution, in fact I think his passing is very crisp and accurate.

According to Head of Performance Analysis Ed Sulley, Javi Garcia is the unsung hero of the month: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/citytv/Features/2014/March/Tactics-Corner-February-2014" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/citytv/Features/2 ... ruary-2014</a>

But what do they know

We are too busy looking at Garcia's abilities with the ball - passing direction and accuracy etc , but I think he's actually one of our better players off the ball.
As we attack , he is constantly looking to fill gaps with a view to stemming any possible counter if we lose the ball . He simply occupies the obvious route of any possible counter attack. Opposition players look up and there he is right in the way. This is , however negatively you want to view it , is a proper contribution.
If you want to see him stray out of position , simply to make a tackle, and end up missing it and leaving defenders exposed to attack , then so be it , but try not to criticize him for trying to appease his critics by doing something he's not completely happy doing or was never really necessary in the first place.

i think the thing is from all my time watching and playing football people judge a player on what he does when he gets the ball, from talent scouts to kids football team managers. so the fact he never seems to do anything with the ball, beat a man, killer pass, score a goal has a lot of people thinking "fuck me i could do his job" its an exaggeration but we know what they mean.
people (me included) want someone to be able to add something to the team going forward and defending (in MF) not just knowing how to fill space, i would say this is why he is very rarely in our strongest starting 11

Very interesting indeed. Highlighted his strengths very well

Congrats to him on being able to knock up his girl and spawning a baby with an absurd amount of hair.
