no interested in him or his music really,

i once heard he used to march with the IRA and fund them if this is true glad hes dead.

if not not really arsed

There is absolutely no proof that he ever donated money to the IRA, Yoko has always denied it and the dead cant speak

Above all he was a pacifist

But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out

"He said: "Me and a few friends had just set up a pirate radio station in the Craigantlet Hills and were in London to get equipment for it when I met Lennon," he said.

"I can clearly remember that one of Lennon's friends brought us to a garage and showed us guns and asked us if we wanted to bring them back home.

"They obviously thought we were "the lads". We were " the lads", just not the ones they thought we were.

"Later that night I met Lennon himself and got in an argument with him, about not being a pacifist. There was some talk of money being sent to the IRA and I chinned him. He hit me back."

Not proof, but there are enough stories about for there to be some fire to cause the smoke.

Law74, do you spit on Lennon (his stature I presume?) solely because of the link you provided?

Or are there other reasons too?

I have a lot of beatles albums, but to worship a person that contributed to the murder of people that I grew up with makes me feel sick.
Every Dollar a Bullet
a superb musician, but his politics and the money he made from his music left some of my friends dead, and that means i will continue to spit on his memory.

Not to turn this into a different debate mate, but loyalist paramilitary groups were easily the more bloodthirsty and ruthless during the troubles.

I am sorry you lost friends. I lost a very good friend too.

All we should do now is draw a line, and stop spitting on memories and the like.

No doubt about that Mammulty, & I have as much hatred for those cnuts as the provos, & for ANYONE that contributed to their "war funds"

Lennon was outspoken and an activist and he sent his MBE back, when you do that and you have millions of fans you will get enemies, if you condemn the British army and government then there may just be some tactic used to discredit you.
The FBI did it later on also when he protested against the Vietnam war and had a big effect on the youth of America.

Anyway most singers just make loads of dosh and enjoy life, at least John used his fame to try to promote peace in the world, I didnt see Elvis doing anything like that.

Spot on.

Lennon was a pain in the arse for a lot of people and he was made to pay for that with his life.

He was a real human being with flaws like the rest of us and a hint of genius, the likes of which most people will never ever attain.
