So last night I collapsed at home in pain, rang the nhs number and got told to go A&E..... Long story short and 12 hours later (without any pain relief) I got emitted and eventually had a CT scan which showed a 1cm kidney stone lodged inbetween my kidney and water pipe (which is the pipe that leads from the kidney to the bladder).... It's been an absolute ball ache (literally) and going for a piss I feel like an 80 year old man...

I've never had a kidney stone before but the nurses have told me 1cm is pretty impressive, only problem now is I'm waiting for consultant to decide whether to give me shock wave treatment, or surgery... Anyone had kidney stones before? What you reckon my chances are for surgery? I'm dreading having surgery as I can't be arsed with the time off work, can't afford it.

Go for the pliers treatment !

Surgery willl be the last resort but it would just be keyhole so hardly any time off work, kidney stones has made even hard men cry like a baby

I had them twice and managed to pass them on both occasions though the second time I cut it rather fine as I was due in surgery less than 10 minutes later!!!

Despite the ones I had being considerably smaller than 1cm (by some margin) they were excruciatingly painful .... you have my deepest sympathies!!!

Glad you said that Karen as last night in A&E people must have thought I'd been stabbed, I was lying on the floor for 2 hours shouting in pain
