Left-wing anarchist guilty of terror offences

Close the thread :-)
Haha. Freedom of speech, so as long as it's not hate speech, the thread should continue. Having said that, the hate speech would have to be specifically defined for me. I don't necessarily like the look of the new Ireland laws, although I haven't spent too much time looking into it, so maybe I am wrong, and hate-speech is sufficiently defined there. For example, for me, hate speech is directly calling for violence/criminal behaviour, etc. That should be a different thread, though, and I can't be bothered engaging. I check this sub-forum every few months :).

That is exactly my thought on it mate, the far right section of Islam. Slightly worrying that someone would think that 38,000 far right Islamists aren't that much to worry about.
Come on mate, it’s only 38,000 lunatics who want to kill people in cold blood and I’m sure the fact that this only represents 0.05% of the population is a great comfort to the families of people that have been killed or maimed for life by said lunatics.

You need to lighten up!

That's enough for 25 Islamists in every town hall in the country, they could have offices and legitimise themselves, really what damage could 25 Islamists do in the small towns and hamlets of this green and pleasant land?

So even if we accepted your incredibly dubious statistics as the truth, you’ve managed to find 38,000 people in a country of 65,000,000.

So even with this gross overestimate we’ve got…0.05% of people who might be connected to Islamic extremism.

I’m not great at maths but is 0.05% a large number? If someone said the conservative party are polling at 0.05% would you think “ah that’s a huge number of people!”
Why are the statistics dubious? They came from MI5 and were quoted in the main steam media. It’s the 90% of people being watched being from a specific demographic that is worrying.

How about that since 2005 there have been 97 people killed by terrorist actions. Three by white right wing extremists and 94 by Muslims.

And this week we have witnessed Parliamentarians running scared due to threats of violence from people who are not likely to be on that list.

I don’t understand why people are burying their heads in the sand.

I have just seen a video of Anneliese Dodds with 10 police escorting her while Muslims hurl abuse at her. Nobody can find this acceptable.

What was once a few people who were not widely seen has become a much more overt threat from a growing group who have been emboldened by the inaction of the authorities.

It's such a strange thread to have started. This strange Scouser declared himself as left-wing but admired the Unabomber and seems to leaned heavily in to him in constructing this fantasy world.

The Unabomber wasn't left-wing, he wasn't right- wing, he was vengeful oddball and social misfit.

It's same mentality as most of the spree-killers, it's not really a political ideology.

Anyway, I don't believe in personal attacks, so I don't like inconsistencies in the political subforum where sometimes some pretend one group is to blame (a bit like with our new players this season because apparently, it's all their fault), and the others are saints. For example, I also think Trump is mad, but we are into 4th year of Biden's presidency, the country has a lot of problems, and he doesn't even have a thread on this forum.

That's part of the reason why I rarely engage in the politics sub-forum. I don't think a lot of discussions are constructive, productive, or in good faith. That's just anecdotal, not in response to you, of course.
To be fair thst is what politics is, different idologies and beliefs socially, morally and economically argued over with polarising and opposing views.

Polotics is personal, zelous, inconsistant and for the more ingenous dishonsst.

Pre sub forum nearly every thread in off topc was derailed by peoples idiological rhetoric amd some decent topics became toxic and resentful.
Creating this was a breath of fresh air and rightly so no one on here can be execpted to be nice to others opinion and also can be equally ridiculous with hyperbole, more importanly it can also, educate sometimes

This sub forum is, as with politics no holds bared (within the CoC), the faint hearted or those expecting reasoned debate all the time rightly get dissapointed ;-) politics isn't reasonable, it's passionate and personal

It’s not 40000 people in the U.K. though, which is what some seem to be assuming. The majority have never even been here.
