Somebody has to be made an example to kickstart the Respect campaign. Unluckily for Leonardo, its him. If this type of ban is needed, then so be it.

I remember that elbow, worse than thatchers. Fractured the guys skull and he was in hospital for months. He only got a couple of games ban too. This 9 months is fair enough for me to make up for that elbow

Leonardo, who won the World Cup in 1994, claimed another official accidentally pushed him into Castro.

Sure it's a relatively minor thing to do, a bit of shoulder barge, but there should be zero tolerance when it comes to match officials. It just shouldn't happen.

I must admit, I'd not heard the story before, but I think it's a suitable punishment. After all, a director of football, which Leonardo is, should be setting an example.

Your classing that slight lean into another person deserving of a 9 month ban?

IMHO, it doesn't matter to what degree he pushed the ref; it's the fact that he deliberately assaulted him.

If authorities don't take a firm line with this, where will it end?
