Why do people say this? He doesn't have a history with Athletico. He wasn't a Madrid boy. Hell he is not even Spanish. He was already good before they bought him. Sure he got better (or performed better with better talent around). And if we check the history of Athletico, they've sold every single top striker theyve unearthed the last 7 years.Griezman is going nowhere. He's not a 80m player and that's what it would take.
It 100% weakened Arsenal when they sold. Titles were won literally the next year after they sold (nasri, RVP). They may have gotten the better of us financially but the team they've directly sold to won the title multiple times. They can't afford to do that anymore. Hell, a large chunk of their fan base is salty AF atm. Imagine if they sold us Sanchez and we won the league by 9 points and they finished second again. They can't afford to do that anymore and they won't tempt it. We also won't pay 80 for griezman and whatever number they want for Sanchez.
So nothing factually, historically, or emotionally supports the above claim. Do I think he is leaving? No. But if a good offer was made, history suggests Athletico will sells. Why? They believe they can replace anyone with their excellent scouting and recruitment. So far, it's hard to doubt them as they've done it 5 times in a row.
