In stark contrast to Western news forecasts, terrible bloodshed occurred over numerous months in many nations - leading to total breakdown in government followed by anarchy in some cases and extremely harsh crackdown by extant governments in many other cases. Save perhaps in Tunisia, the so-called "Arab Spring" was more like an "Arab Winter."
