Did do a search, please merge if mentioned elsewhere. Wanted it in the main Bluemoon forum but decided this was probably better.

Seems like Maine Road FC are struggling for a sponsor again, so they're asking people to send them a little cash over t'internets as they try to raise £2,500. I know that this forum is not exactly a bastion of wanton spending advocates, but it would be good if we could help them on their way to financial security for this season, given their links to MCFC.

Football club formed by City fans launches crowdfunding bid

Maine Road's kit deal has ended and officials have since failed to attract a sponsor

Maine Road FC, formed in 1955 by a supporters club of Manchester City, has launched a crowdfunding campaign because it has no main sponsor.

The club, established for almost 60 years, was hit after a four-year kit sponsor came to an end.

Secretary Derek Barber said Maine Road have since failed to secure a main sponsor which has left a gaping hole in the club budget.

Former Manchester City Peter Reid legend took to Twitter after hearing the news that Maine Road had run into trouble.

The crowdfunding bid, which welcomes donations of anything over £10 has been launched on the crowdfunder.co.uk website.

Mr Barber, who is also Maine Road’s treasurer, said: “We had a sponsor for four years, Reeds Rains, but that contract moved on. It’s tough at our level of football.

“We lose players because we don’t pay anybody as that is our policy.

“Athough we do have sponsors we don’t have a main kit sponsor as it stands so need to raise money.”

Maine Road, like City, play in sky blue at home ground Brantingham Road, Chorlton, in the North West Counties Premier Division.
