Manchester City 3-4 River Plate - 2.2.1952

I knew a couple of that team. Bert Trautmann and Roy Clarke. Roy used to have a sports shop in Rusholme before becoming manager of the City Social Club.

What surprised me was that Jimmy Meadows was down as centre forward. I always assumed that he was a right back. He played in that position in the 1955 Cup Final. The early injury that forced him out of the match probably settled the match with no substitutes allowed then. It also finished his career. Wikipedia lists him as a winger. Very puzzling.

There were a number of other familiar names including Roy Paul, Johnny Hart, Men Branagan and Don Revie.
