A Hotel - who would want to stay there? It's not exactly the french riviera.

maybe the hotel is going to be built when the areas been regenerated and the owners have ploughed a hell of a lot of money into the area

(£84 to subscribe - so i dont we are going to get the full story lol)

I have seen it in a Manc business magazine called Crains. The owner of MD wants to build a hotel, bar, shop etc etc He already owns a couple of other pubs plus an old folks home.
He is keen to build the hotel upstairs above a bar that would remain a "City" bar.
He is apparently awaiting outcome in May of the decision as to whether they build a small casino complex next to Coms.
He did say that at the moment it is onlythe match days that keep the bar afloat.

Good thinking by our owners. We need somewhere to accomodate all the tourists coming to watch us who will need somewhere to stay when the rags disappear into a big black financial hole.

I seem to remember a really funny thread a while ago where we put forward ideas to replace the casino when the idea was dropped. We had things like the Manchester City tour (like the Granada Studios tour used to be) where you could go into the reconstructed Mary D's for an "authentic" pre-match experience, then into the "Block 111" attraction, where you could exchange abuse with "rag" fans and see who could sing the loudest. Of course there would be a ride on the City Roller-Coaster, finished off with an afternoon shopping among the delights of Grey Mare Lane Market.

Perhaps the arabs have got some pikey mates who need some cheap digs to stay in when they come and watch the match
