Mike Doyle anniversary

Your Dad was my boyhood hero, Scott, who I got to know personally when I lived in Ashton ... and a top geezer to boot... the eulogy both you and the nipper delivered at the church service had me in as many stitches as it did tears and you both are a credit to him. On May 13th I was thinking of both him and my Uncle, a massive blue, who died at the same young age.

Young 'uns who never saw Doyley play.... think Vincent Kompany but from round here, 15+ years in a City shirt, 5 (that I can count) major honours, scored quite a few goals and with passionate hatred of the rags that pre-dated many of our own fans' hatred of "that lot"..

In the middle of his book, Blue blood. Tragic how the drink got hold and destroyed him. A true hard bastard who loved, lived and breathed City..and shat Ushited!
