Last year's Champions Manchester City of England are invited to the pre-season tournament which is typically held at Munich's Allianz Arena. Sao Paulo,(Brazil) AC Milan,(italy) and hosts Bayern Munich (germany) are the other teams involved.
The tournament, sponsored by German car manufacturer Audi AG, will be held over 31st July and 1st August 2013, and boasts low ticket prices from just €20 a day. The semi-finals will be held concurrently on the first day, with the final and the third-place play-off the next day.
Seven-time European Champions AC Milan, three-time Copa Libertadores winners Sao Paulo, and last year's UEFA Champions League finalists Bayern Munich make up the rest of the party. The tournament will see former City stars Mario Balotelli and Nigel de Jong, who are currently donning the AC Milan shirt, meet up with their previous team-mates.
In replacement of the Franz-Beckenbauer-Cup, which was held in 2007, 2008 and 2010, the Audi Cup was held in 2009, 2011 and 2012, with Bayern Munich winning two editions and Barcelona the remaining one. The tournament was held in China for the first time last year, and will return to the Allianz Arena this summer.
"We are delighted to have been invited to take part in the Audi Cup and to be competing with some of the best teams in the world. This tournament forms a significant part of our pre-season preparations and we are very much looking forward to it," said Manchester City Chief Commercial and Operating Officer Tom Glick.
"The Allianz Arena will be buzzing, and we hope that the trip to Munich and the opportunity to be a part of the event will be a summer highlight for all city fans."
