New push to develop global commercial relationships

This guy, who's a Professor in the Centre for Sports Business at Salford University and who has a particular interest in China, tweeted this yesterday:

Digging around, CAA Sports acquired Inside Sports & Entertainment Group in 2014 and at that point CAA's client list was reported to include: the San Francisco 49ers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the NCAA, Madison Square Garden, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, the USTA and the Seattle Sounders. They also have a presence in China and were the first business in their field to establish one.

Could this partly be to bypass any new FFP restrictions, ie. they buy some of our kids at inflated prices giving us a larger budget?

Promising signs, I think the alternative to the transfer net spend cap will be a cap based on revenue over a monitoring period, with increases in the cap permissable for commercial and match day revenue but tv revenue increases would be excluded. I think that's where it could end up going.

Increased ticket prices again?

It seems to have slipped under the radar a bit with the end of the transfer window looming but we've brought in an agency called CAA , who are one of the biggest talent agencies in the business. They will apparently work with the in-house marketing team to drive growth in our global commercial relationships.

We already have something like 20 global partners, which is a large part of the reason our commercial income is so high compared to other clubs. Arsenal, for example only have 7 global partners.
