City started with the typical 4-2-2-2 system, which was favored this season so far, with some small invidual changes. Jimmy played for Samir, consequently David changed the side and Balo started instead of Edin. In the early minutes U*ited was more dominant, but they failed again and again to the strong defending performance between the lines, as well as its own weak. City came more and more into the game and could also achieve the first goal. The second half was completely different. Evans was sent off nd Fergie didnt made the best adjustments, so City used their their risky gameplan to increase the result into historic highs.

Modern defence at his best - From the start both teams pressed high nd risky. U*ited dominated the first 20 Mins, but was neutralized with two narrow rows of four. We moved disciplined as focused and blocked the proven ways of U*ited players in the middle - the wingers were doubled, hard attacked, while Rooney, Welbeck and Anderson couldn t make an impact. The blues were highly active in the most important area nd could recond an high number of tackles and interceptions, while taking the space which U*ited needs.

Unique City - Our unique feature in this game was the split/rotate between the two holding midfielders Gareth and Yaya, who didnt allow any space for the Rags. Yaya plays normally the right half and Barry left the half part, but this time at the beginning was the other way around, but also that the two constantly changing their positions. Those gameplan improvements in the central Midfield were an integral part of the amazing tactical defening strategy, since Barry/Yaya could always quickly adapt to the situation.
First, we fit in to the own basic defensive formation that changed constantly between 4-4-1-1/4-2-2-2 4-2-3-1. If we was playing with the 4-2-2-2-like system, the left side was not well covered, since Silva played slightly higher on the left-half position so Yaya had to cover the space. Also, by the fact that Clichy acted with caution because he was in many 1on1 duells with Nani nd Smalling.
Second, we also had to consider own attacking gameplan. Yaya is normally higher standing in front of players and runs more frequently to the box. But because he played a half left behind David, he stayed mostly in the center while Barry stayed right or they just swapped the sides, allowing Yaya an better impact on the right half. Silva also tryed to move often to the right side, which made Barry hold hes position nd not change with Yaya, because David had an easy opening pass to him in those moments.
Third, with the side-inverted arrangement we generally already had some operational prevention, as Barry and Toure had to defent with their strong feet against scum wingers. If one of the two U*ited's striker moved out to the Wings, this was an early sign for the defenders which way they will come. This provided an additional defending featuere, because U*iteds midfielders would ave to switch sides to fill the resulting hole. This was uniteds weak point nd Gareth managed to play the ball collector all time. So the central block didnt allow U*ited to get a chance despite their dominance at the beginning. They were pressed outside and limited on the breakthrough on the wings.

To be fair, they played very straight forward but failed in 1 on 1 duells due the skillful Fullbacks which were extremly good supported by Milner and Barry. The Rags starting XI was very attacking adjusted, so all their creativity was high positioned but unstructured. U*ited was missing a Player like Barry who can organize and coordinate the game well from the deep position.

By the time U*ited couldnt stay compact, on the other side we was moving better and better, Silva was able to avoid Fletcher. Although the attacking performance was only average and couldnt keep up with our own defending performance, we was able to become the better team on the end of the first half - while U*ited used their full power.

Bobby offered an sophisticated system with precisely fine-tuning and fluidity - not only by the change from Barry and Toure, but also by the movement of Jimmy nd David. This was, again, a advantage for the defence, because David had more freedom, while Milner fits hes position from the right - another reason why Barry played half right, because now he could hold the central role of a defence line of three and slightly offset secure - and Aguero moved back while Silva and Balotelli filled the offensive half-positions. To get a better picture this was a 4-1-3-1-1.

The three first goals fell all by situational creation of majority, where U*ited was outnambered. In the last half hour we focused heavily on the right, where Milner, Silva and Richards had an easy go with Evra. While the Scum acted in a clearly defined system, it was City who had a much more fluid and detailed gameplan.

You know, i was just about to start a new thread that was pretty much word for word the same as this one.

Why do you keep saying U*ited?

What part of it didnt you understand?

Someone needs to explain it to Claridge - he thinks we won because we went back to 4-4-2 (and spent £600m).

Careful now.
Dronal Barking, the smug, snide armchair rag off here who is the only person in the world to understand tactics or to have heard of Barcelona, says Barry is shit and offers nothing.
Mind you, he was once in the running for a book token in the Student Media Awards (didnt win) so he clearly knows more about everything than anyone else on here.

Whaaaa i laughed, but only because i respect such opinions.

As for Barry, i just appreaciate what s hes doing this Season. Can get under pressure when he is playing alone the holding Midfielder (Liverpool e.g. last season) but if he gets supported by Yaya, ther is no words how much work he is doing for the team.
