When will people understand that Yaya can't/won't be dropped when he's our only CM with real passing ability? There's a reason we always struggle going forward with a Fernando - Fernandinho pivot.

Agree that none of the other midfielders have Toure's passing range, but Delph could possibly be an acceptable compromise in terms of work rate and ability on the ball. Still think Toure is an important squad member, but don't think he should be playing as part of a midfield two in big games.

It's simple you just replace him with Silva. You have a hard working engine in Dinho and Delph and you have Silva doing what he does best. Yaya could still have a role to play as a second half sub but as I said before Pellers doesn't have the bollocks to drop him and Yaya's ego couldn't accept being a sub.

He's naturally slowing down with age, but he can slow the team down as well. It's similar to the Gerrard situation at Liverpool last season.

He should have gone to Italy in the summer where he could stroll around for another 5 years. Imagine we had Pogba or Veratti instead.

This should be Toure's last season with a top drawer midfielder coming in.

This.

There is absolutely nothing that Yaya can do anymore technically or physically that Silva can't and Silva has more than proved he's capable of playing in a high pressing system in a midfield three with Spain.

Win a header? Long passing? Yaya is better at going past players. Probably about it though...Silva even makes more tackles these days.

For his height Yaya's heading ability leaves an awful lot to be desired. I think he's forgotten how to jump.

I think it's a natural dilemma when a truly great player gets on a bit: there's no one player in the world who is a like-for-like replacement, and as a result we have to rejig the whole team. But we do have many of his strengths covered elsewhere: the range in passing by Silva, the long range shot from KDB, the imagination from both of them. What we don't quite have is the drive and the strength, but in Delph and Fernandinho City are placing their bets on hard running in CM, and in Sterling-Navas some pace in width, from Silva-KDB the sparkle. That makes our future City team a slightly different beast. Missing a great player, of course, but stronger imo because we are less reliant on the form of individual players.
