As you might know, the Blue Moon Podcast isn't a quick thing to put together each month. The team can spend anything up to 10-12 hours each week - it's not a simple turn up and talk, there's a hell of a lot of pre and post production that goes into it.
To give you a (very) brief idea...
- each pre-recorded segment can take up to 4-5 hours, with scripts, interviews, recording, editing and mixing...
- each show can take around 2-3 hours to record on a Thursday evening
- each episode then needs cutting together, which is usually another couple of hours
- the show is then uploaded and published - with a ton of social media scheduled too
Last season, we also lost the use of the studio on some occasions, meaning that we had to record in pubs, people's front rooms, quiet areas... anywhere we could find. Next season, we're aiming to change that - though it will mean running costs will go up a fair bit.
We have a Patreon page, where we're asking for backing (a small monthly donation) as a "pay what you think it's worth" sort of deal. We don't want to make the show paid for - that's not fair - so all we can ask is that those who want to can give a little bit towards its costs each month. This won't make any of those involved millionaires, it won't be enough to retire on, but it will cover their travel expenses and a little token gesture to say thank you.
