I'm setting up a 24-hour poker event but the logistics are proving to be a nightmare.

Finding a venue that can host it is problematic, not just because of gaming laws etc but because the owner will need to be present throughout. At least I know where I stand here and the search can begin for a suitable place.

It will be legal because a percentage of the money will go to a local kids hospital so its a charity event.

However, where I'm really coming unstuck is devising a fair and decent structure to the game itself.
Its proved to be impossible to have it as a tournament over such a long period of time. Any charity game I've played in before now has always been a tournament structure (either as a 'freeze-out' or a re-buy).
So it has to be a straight-forward cash game, with unlimited re-buys, and you can enter and leave whenever you wish.
My plan at the moment is to have it like this and when a player exits the game in profit a third of the money is deducted to be donated to the charity.

Is this fair? Can anyone think of a better structure to the game?

Complicated mate, i use to have a monthly tournament in my bar, 50 players average, 100 buy in,each paying a tenner rake, re-buy first hour, was profitable and all legit - opened a membership scheme (private members bar), use to work for gamcare so know pretty much all the loop holes, but the time constraint made me me sack it off. Best advice is getting the blind structure right otherwise you'll be there all night, you need any advice pm me, trade secrets have to stay that way.

Cheers Zin.

Me and a mate have looked into it this afternoon and decided that a 24 hour game would just be too much hassle to set up logistically.
But an all-day day of poker - with various tournaments - and a 'fun day' outside for families (bouncy castles, bar-be-que etc) might be possible at a local social club. If that doesnt come off though we might organize a small invite-only 24-hour game at a mate's house. I play loads but I've never seen the sun come up holding aces haha Thats what I'm after.

I still run a cheeky cash game now and again behind closed doors, quite a few poker faces- freddie the flop, gardner jnr/snr, all make appearances now and again, though alot have deterred from the scene because of the obvious advantages of the casinos and a fair few of the under ground games have been turned over. Was talking to gstar a while back about this, i'm gonna put something together with regards to lads on here and see if it takes off, obviously smaller stakes but if the numbers are right then you can use my place.
