I don't rate him as a manager, but I thought he was good in Allo Allo and Mall Cop.

He's spent around £90m net, and improved the team he started with essentially by adding Torres to it.

He could have done better.

Very Good tactical manager but not very impressive in the transfer market!

He's kind of the anti-Hughes isn't he. A mirror image of our manager.

It just goes to show that being successful in the transfer market is no mean feat - Benitez's transfer record is a joke. The amount of flops he has bought is ridiculous, and he has never been held to account for it. He whinges about not having enough funds to compete, but would you give the daft twat £80 million to blow on players?

We often underplay Hughes' success in the transfer market, saying 'It doesn't take a genius to buy the players he's bought' - but then you look at Benitez's transfers, and someone like Martin O'Neill's (people like Nicky Shorey, Luke Young, Stewart Downing, Emile Heskey, Habib Beye), and some of Slur Alex's howlers - it puts Hughes's considerable achievements in the transfer market into perspective.

Spot on mate, Hughes scouting and recruitment of players is excellent and I would actually go out on a limb and say he was second only to Wenger in the League ATM.

But Benitez deserves credit for winning the Champions League with Djimi Traore in that team, that is something of a miracle!
